Overview

In collaboration with the New Brunswick Association of Radiologists (NBAR), Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Radiologists (NLAR) and the Nova Scotia Association of Radiologists (NSAR), the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) is  offering a CT Colonography (CTC) Simulation Workshop, where participants will review a minimum of 50 proven cases. Participants will have dedicated access to a CTC workstation and have one-on-one time with national specialists and moderators in CT Colonography.

The course format includes short didactic sessions, followed by extended hands-on simulation. There will be software familiarization segments throughout the event. The course begins on a Wednesday evening, continues through Thursday, and ends early in the afternoon on Friday.

 

Target Audience

This Simulation Workshops was developed for radiologists with an interest in high quality interpretation of CT Colonography imaging.

 

Course Objectives

At the end of this simulation workshop, participants should be able to:

  1. Develop and maintain a CT Colonography Program
  2. Recognize bowel cleansing methods, tagging agents and patient preparations, including the advantages and disadvantages of each
  3. Assess CTC technique and the role of technologist interaction
  4. Identify common pitfalls using a systematic approach
  5. Identify and measure colonic lesions
  6. Follow standard reporting of CT Colonography cases for auditing and uniformity
  7. Identify optimal cases to convert barium enemas to CT Colonography
  8. Apply the CAR CT Colonography Standards to the interpretation of cases

Accreditation

The CAR CT Colonography (CTC) Simulation Workshop is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 3) as defined by the NEW Maintenance of Certification program (MOC) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and has been approved by the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) for a maximum of 16.75 credits.

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
